With soaring vocals and lyrics that wash over the heart and mind like waves, Anishinaabe indie folk soul artist Ila Barker takes listeners on an introspective journey creating space for love, loss, and letting go. With the grit and raw emotion of Brandi Carlile, the poetic storytelling of Jewel, and the ethereal charm of Gabrielle Aplin, Ila braids an eclectic sound that feels familiar and yet like nothing you’ve heard before. In 2022, Ila released her much anticipated LP titled Fool Under Water, topping campus radio charts across Canada and the US. The lead single, “Intuition” was awarded Honourable Mention for the SOCAN Foundation's TD Indigenous Songwriter Award. It hit #1 on the Indigenous Music Countdown, was synced in a Travel Manitoba national ad campaign and charted Top 22 of 2022 on SiruisXM channel 165.
