Wafa

JATHB is a Tunisian musical duo composed of singer-composer Mariem Hamrouni and multi-instrumentalist and producer Mohamed Barsaoui. Rooted in North African Sufi traditions, JATHB creates immersive live performances that bridge ancestral folk heritage with contemporary electronic and experimental sound. Their music blends sacred vocals, trance rhythms, modal structures, analog synthesizers, and organic instruments such as percussion, didgeridoo, and handpan. Each performance is conceived as a living, improvised ritual, shaped by listening, vibration, and the energy of the space and audience. JATHB’s work explores themes of remembrance, spirituality, and human connection, offering audiences a deep and embodied listening experience. Their practice sits at the crossroads of folk, world music, and contemporary experimentation, making their performances both rooted and forward-looking. The duo has performed internationally at festivals and cultural venues across North Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, including International Hammamet Festival (Tunisia), Arabesques Festival (France), Kayan Festival (UAE), Bab El Bahr Festival (Egypt), and Tallinn Music Week (Estonia). JATHB continues to develop projects designed for international touring and cross-cultural exchange.
