Sunforger is the output of songwriter Spencer Curtis, who uses a four-stringed guitar in a unique tuning. The lineup is rounded out by his sibling Piper Curtis (knitting) on bass, longtime collaborator Chris Hauer (Ada Lea) on lead guitar, and former coworker Kier Graham (Dylan) on drums. We’re from Montreal, Quebec. Our music is post-punk, post-grunge, and college rock. People have called it “weird punk”, “fast slowcore”, “slacker jangle”, and “post-everything”. The songs are concise, and intensely rhythmic. Our live shows are loud, hypnotic, and meditative. We released a self-titled album in 2023, and the Auspices EP in 2025, both with Toronto’s Cooked Raw label. We’ve toured the U.S. Northeast and South, Ontario, the Maritimes, and played many Canadian showcase festivals including Pop Montreal, Lawnya Vawnya, and Sled Island. We’re often imitated but never replicated. Our second full-length is slated for a co-release with Philadelphia’s Julia’s War label, and Cooked Raw, in May 2026.
