Empty Nesters is the recording project of Chinese/Vietnamese-Canadian artist Eric Liao, based in Montreal. Evolving from shoegaze and indie roots, Liao now channels his energy into hardcore punk, blending aggression with emotional depth. His latest project, Deaf Monks, explores burnout, identity, and finding clarity through chaos. Known for powerful, cathartic live performances, Empty Nesters has performed at Pop Montreal, Suoni Per Il Popolo, and New Colossus Festival in New York, representing a fresh and vital Asian voice in Canada’s punk scene.
