Shannon Litzenberger is an award-winning choreographer and multidisciplinary artist who
creates sensory-rich performance experiences that animate our relationship to land, community,
and the forgotten wisdom of the body. She is also a cultural leader and civic innovator whose
work translates creative practice into frameworks that strengthen how we lead, make decisions
and shape public life. Over a 25-year career, her multidisciplinary practice has spanned
performance, leadership development, and systems change—advancing the role of artists as
essential contributors to governance, cultural sovereignty, and collective well-being.
Shannon designs and facilitates leadership programs across corporate, academic, and public
sectors and has held senior leadership roles across Canada’s arts sector, including Executive
Director of the Canadian Dance Assembly and Program Director of the Canadian Arts Summit.
She has contributed to national advocacy efforts such as Canada’s Performing Arts Alliance and
the Canadian Arts Coalition and was an inaugural Arne Bengt Johansson Fellow at the Banff
Forum. Currently she serves as an advisor to the OCADU Cultural Policy Hub and is also the
co-founder of the Public Imagination Network, a cross-disciplinary network of artists and thinkers
advancing creative responses to public governance and social justice. Through her writings,
convenings, creations and facilitation practice, she explores how we can live well together
across divides.
