About

Rowan Barrett is the Executive Vice President and General Manager of Canada Basketball’s Men’s High Performance Program, following nearly two decades as one of Canada’s greatest international professional basketball players. A retired shooting guard and small forward, Barrett represented Canada on six continents from 1991 to 2008, competing in two FIBA World Championships, multiple FIBA AmeriCup tournaments, and the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, where he served as team captain. He is a member of the Century Club, having registered 115 games for Canada, and has been inducted into the Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame. Backed by an MBA and experience across law, finance, and sports, Barrett joined Canada Basketball in 2010 and rose through the ranks to become General Manager of the Senior Men’s National Team in 2019, helping guide the program to its first World Championship at the 2017 U19 World Cup. His leadership helped Canada earn the first ever bronze medal at the 2023 FIBA World Cup and qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics — the program’s first Olympic appearance since Rowan captained the 2000 Sydney team. Across his playing and front office career, Barrett has achieved the rare distinction of being a city, national, and World Champion.
