Rob Hutten is a Halifax-based folky singer/songwriter with one foot firmly planted in the roots music of the 1920s-’50s. His album “Sketchy” (2022) features 14 original songs about people on the edges of society. Themes of power, wealth and injustice are woven through his songs, all delivered with a gentle fingerpicking style reminiscent of Mississippi John Hurt and John Prine. Original material is presented alongside thoughtful interpretations of early 20th century musicians from Charley Patton to Dock Boggs.
