Laureate of the 2025 Syli d’Or music competition and Afropop Worldwide – Syli d’’Or 2025 awards, MARZOS is a Montreal-based Latin American ensemble with a repertoire rooted in salsa and other Afro-Caribbean rhythms. The group founded in 2019 combines tradition and modernity to offer energetic performances, while celebrating cultural heritage. MARZOS is also an organization committed to promoting the fine arts and cultural activities in the fields of music and songwriting. Its mission is to support creativity and artistic excellence. The orchestra aims to raise awareness about the richness of Afro-Caribbean cultures and to create a connection with its audience, celebrating the roots of the communities it represents. MARZOS is also committed to innovation and artistic development, both for artists from visible and ethnic minorities in Latin America and for the artistic communities of Quebec, Canada, and internationally. The ensemble’s mission is to improve creative conditions and amplify the voices of emerging artists. In ongoing collaboration since March 2024, we are honoured to share the stage with the incredible MATEO, a innovative and unconventional Colombian singer-songwriter and guitarist based in Montreal, who redefines the codes of Latin music by fusing contemporary influences such as alternative rock and Afro-Colombian sounds.
