About

Rebecca

Becca James is a Northern-born, London-based alt-pop artist and songwriter. Her music fuses ethereal electronic production with organic, soul-infused vocals, exploring themes of trauma, healing, and transformation. Her debut EP Trust the Season (2023) received Spotify editorial playlisting and her music has been featured in Celeste Barber’s Netflix series Wellmania. James released her debut album God in Chains (Vol. 1) on 20 November 2025. Mixed in Dolby Atmos via Desert Fish Studio in Toronto, the record follows a healing journey released in sync with moon phases and accompanied by goddess-inspired visuals. The album has drawn praise from Clash Magazine, which described it as “recalling early AURORA, London Grammar, or Florence & The Machine at her spiritual best,” and from Radio One’s Jess Izzat, who celebrated James’ “gorgeous vocals” on the hypnotic track “Echo Chamber,” featuring Mark Stoney. BBC Introducing in the North East further supported the album this year with a live session alongside presenter Shakk. God in Chains (Vol. 1) sets the stage for its B-side, The Alchemy (Vol. 2), due in 2026. This autumn–winter, James supports soulful artist Matreya (FKA Mason Noise) with shows at Green Note, Camden (24 November), Birmingham (29 November), and Leeds (3 December).
