Raven Reid, an Indigenous folk singer-songwriter born under the northern lights of Yellowknife with proud Mikisew First Nation ancestry, creates music rooted in story, healing, and truth. A self-taught guitarist and lifelong writer, Raven transforms her lived experiences, including displacement during the Sixties Scoop, into songs that speak to resilience, love, and survival. Now based in Saskatoon, she has performed at festivals across Saskatchewan, including Ness Creek, Dog Patch, Doylefest, and Waskesiu Lakeside, and is also an in-demand speaker at schools, women’s summits, and gatherings of Sixties Scoop survivors. Her debut album Waiting for Change, released in 2024 with producer Marc Merilainen of Merilainen Music Inc., features eight original songs that invite listeners to embrace growth and purpose. 2025 marks a milestone year: Raven earned three nominations at the Saskatchewan Music Awards, released two singles—Stumbling Fool and 215—recorded at CBC Studios as part of the CBC Indigenous Music Residency, and will appear as an Official Showcase Artist at Breakout West (Winnipeg), participate in the OHSOTO’KINO Indigenous Music Incubator (Calgary), and perform at OSAC in Regina.
