All things in due time. Run Maggie Run began in late 2015 as a solo bedroom recording project for frontman Gavin Rees. The project evolved into a four-piece ensemble, with percussionist Peter Keillor, keyboardist Jared Gour and guitarist Darren McMenemy forming the band. Remaining true to their folk roots, the group merges the impressionistic vocals and melancholic lyricism of those early works and injects them with an energy that became a signature of the band’s live performances. After a COVID-enforced hiatus, the band, with the addition of bassist Keith Sherwin, has returned to performing in 2024 and 2025, playing small shows locally in Hamilton, and London ON. With a newfound maturity, the emotional resonance of the group’s older work is combined with new perspectives and a joi-de-vivre that is both exciting and personal, revelling in past good times and embracing an uncertain future.
