Nick Wise is a Calgary-based recording artist whose music blends alternative hip-hop with the melodic edge of R&B and the textured warmth of indie music. Rooted in vulnerable, imaginative storytelling, his work explores identity, love, and the emotional landscape of coming of age in real time. While not emerging from one of Canada’s traditional music hotspots, Wise draws equally from the prairie province he calls home, his West Indian heritage, and the narrative tradition of the hip-hop greats he studies, creating a sound that is both grounded and expansive. Most recently in 2025, Wise released the introspective single “Face the Truth,” which received nationwide airplay on CBC Radio, alongside the high-energy UK garage–inspired anthem “Approach It,” nominated for Rap Recording of the Year at the 2025 YYC Music Awards. During this year, he delivered notable live performances, including appearances at the City of Calgary’s Canada Day celebrations, the Ship & Anchor Pub’s quarterly Ship-Hop Showcase, and CMI’s sold-out artist showcase at Burdock Brewery in downtown Toronto. An emerging presence in Canada’s independent music scene, Wise is set to release his debut EP, What Kept Us Together, in 2026.
