PYRA is an Egyptian and Filipino artist, songwriter, and producer from Scarborough whose work fuses Hip-Hop, R&B, and Soul into deeply personal reflections on identity, growth, and belonging. Raised by a single mother after losing his father at a young age, PYRA channels his experiences into music that speaks to resilience, transformation, and love in its many forms. His musical journey began in Scarborough, where he and his high school friends met and started recording in bedrooms & community centres, releasing early tracks on SoundCloud. Over time, that creative circle evolved into an independent label that the group built out of a friend’s garage. The label has become a grassroots platform for young local artists and represents the spirit of Scarborough’s music culture: collaborative and community-minded. Influenced by artists such as PARTYNEXTDOOR and Drake, PYRA’s music balances vulnerability and ambition, creating soundscapes where introspection meets polished songwriting. His breakout single Gemini earned over 77,000 streams, signaling both artistic resonance and growing audience potential. As an Egyptian and Filipino artist, PYRA brings a distinct cultural perspective to Ontario’s Hip-Hop landscape. His multicultural upbringing allows him to bridge genres and experiences, blending soulful melodies, afro-centric rhythms, and melodic rap phrasing.
