Connecting the dots between bedroom folk, chamber pop, and the darker side of dream pop, Victrix weaves together the more confessional side of classic songwriting with a strong penchant for synths, drum machines, and tastefully deployed melodic ornamentation, betraying an abiding interest in the granular details of songcraft and arrangement, very much inhabiting its own particular sonic universe. Since debuting in 2023, Victrix has performed at numerous festivals across Canada including Sled Island, Bob-Sled, The Salt Shaker, East Town Get Down, and Rainbow Trout Music Festival, sharing stages with notable artists such as Baths, Sofie Royer, Juana Molina, and The Velveteins. Their debut EP, recorded with art-pop maestro Chris Dadge, was released in December 2023 and quickly gained traction, landing in the Earshot! National Top 50 and securing Top 30 placements across multiple campus radio stations. Victrix has been recognized in the press with features in The Calgary Guardian, Reverie Magazine, CJSW’s What’s Your Niche?, CBC’s The Eyeopener, CKUW’s Eclectic Residents, and Calgary’s X92.9’s Xposure as a guest host.
