Elfrida is an indie pop rock band formed between Hamilton and the Greater Toronto Area, blending the warmth of classic rock with the edge and immediacy of modern indie pop. Their sound is built on familiar-feeling hooks, diary-like lyrics, and grooves that linger long after the song ends—music that feels both nostalgic and current at the same time. The project began as a series of recordings between guitarists, singers, and songwriters Sandro Mastromatteo and Matt Kristan, gradually evolving into something more defined. After moving through early lineups, the band found its missing pieces. Bass player Gordon Bosiljevac brought a rhythmic foundation that pushes songs forward with intention rather than restraint. Guitarist Matt Del Conte added melodic depth, sharper songwriting, and layered harmonies that expanded the band’s sound. The final element came from Hamilton native Adam Filice, whose rock-driven drumming shaped the heartbeat of their debut album, Cold, Drunk, and Stoned, and solidified the band’s identity. The name Elfrida nods to the place where three of the members grew up—a quiet beginning that still informs their music today. While rooted in their past, Elfrida writes with momentum, always looking ahead.
