Makinna Givens is a Northern Ontario singer-songwriter whose raw, unfiltered honesty has become the heartbeat of her music. Growing up, she was often told she lacked a filter; a trait that once channeled into songwriting, became her signature. A Country’s Local declared: “Her uncompromising honesty makes it clear: she’s an artist to watch.” Her debut single “If We Meet Again”, was praised for showcasing her unbridled passion, undeniable talent, and unwavering authenticity. As CTV News put it, “Givens has already captured the hearts of many with her sound and sincerity.” The track also earned her Music Video of the Month from the Country Music Association of Ontario, a nod to her growing visual artistry and storytelling power. In 2025, Makinna was named one of the Top 4 finalists in the national Country Rising Contest presented by Cottage Springs and Starseed Entertainment, earning her the opportunity to open for Griffen Palmer and Nate Haller at a showcase hosted by The Reklaws. She was also selected as a Field Pick for the Lucknow Music in the Fields Emerging Artist Showcase. Makinna holds a diploma in songwriting, audio engineering, and music production, and with every step cultivates a growing national fanbase.
