About

Maclayne

Maclayne is a Calgary- and Toronto-based independent singer-songwriter whose music is as fun and catchy as it is relatable and moving. A natural storyteller with a gift for connecting deeply with her audience, she blends folk & pop into a dynamic sound marked by heartfelt lyricism and a voice of striking warmth and character. Maclayne’s debut album (Nov 2024) garnered national attention, earning 3 YYC Music Award nominations while being named one of the best releases of 2024 by CBC Calgary & The Calgary Herald. She received media attention & charted on campus radio nationally, and has been interviewed on CBC Calgary & CBC Edmonton, further cementing her reputation as an artist to watch. A captivating live performer, Maclayne has sold out headlining shows in Calgary for 2 years. She was selected as a performer in the prestigious Hugh’s Room Discoveries Series in Toronto. With a sound reminiscent of Regina Spektor, Lizzy McAlpine, and Olivia Rodrigo, Maclayne’s sophomore album is produced by Juno and Latin-Grammy winner James Bryan (Philosopher Kings, Prozzäk, Nelly Furtado). “Contemplating Circles” (Oct 2026) is a concept album about the cycles we repeat in life, which chronicles Maclayne’s quarter life crisis and the reckoning that follows.
