El Hijo de la Cumbia is a pioneer project of electronic cumbia from Argentina, created by music producer Emiliano Gomez. Emiliano has been involved in the music industry for many years. He is recognized for his pioneering work in the electronic cumbia scene, a genre that he has helped shape and expand over the years. His project, El Hijo de la Cumbia, has received critical acclaim and has been influential in popularizing the genre worldwide. His debut album, Freestyle de Ritmos (2009), drew the attention of many music lovers at the time and opened many doors for the project. Since then, it has been featured on major festivals and events in more than thirty countries worldwide. Currently, Emiliano is based in Malmö, Sweden, where he established a live band of international musicians for El Hijo de la Cumbia. The live band offers a psychedelic cumbia show, featuring fusions of dub, drum ‘n’ bass, among other genres. The band interprets the songs from the albums of El Hijo de la Cumbia as well as versions of some cumbia audience favorites. In 2026, Emiliano is celebrating 30 years of trajectory in cumbia.
