About

Kylie

TC.KYLIE’s musical journey is a narrative of transition and empowerment. Originally a prominent journalist in Hong Kong, she covered pivotal social movements before relocating to London and recording her debut instrumental album at the iconic Abbey Road Studios. This dual identity allows her to infuse jazz with a rare level of storytelling, treating composition as a form of “sonic documentation”. Her sound is a sophisticated hybrid: the harmonic richness of Robert Glasper and Shaun Martin meets the explosive textures of Japanese acid-jazz pioneers like Fox Capture Plan and jizue. While her work remains strictly instrumental, TC.KYLIE translates the emotive lyricism of Cantopop into sophisticated piano and keytar arrangements, creating a sound that is both technically brilliant and deeply nostalgic. Drawing on the cinematic palette of Joe Hisaishi (Studio Ghibli) and the retro-vibrancy of Sega/Nintendo soundtracks, she continues to redefine jazz as a vessel for cultural succession. With her debut vinyl RE:birth garnering airplay in 10+ countries, TC.KYLIE continues to redefine jazz as a vessel for cultural succession and social expression.
