About

In July 1994, a roughly 1.5 to 2 kilometres wide comet dubbed Shoemaker Levy-9 smashed into the planet Jupiter. The force of the impact would have annihilated the planet Earth. Intrigued by the event’s significance, Shoemaker Levee was born and exists today as an original alternative/indie band with a unique style of anthemic, introspective rock that draws musical inspiration from various sources. In 2023 and 2024, Shoemaker Levee won second place in 89.1 Max FM’s Ticket to Tall Pines contest. They also headlined the Gussapolooza Music Festival. They have regular airplay on 89.1 Max FM (Orillia) and several international radio stations in Australia, Mexico, Finland, and in the UK. In 2024 they experienced over 100% follower growth across all their social platforms. “I feel what Shoemaker Levee has created (and will continue to create) is extraordinarily layered work with great range and musicality,” says Stephen Stohn, former Executive Director of the Juno Awards. “I’m waiting for your Big Moment,” says Alan Cross, famous Music Broadcaster. “At some point, you’re going to break out to a wider audience.” Shoemaker Levee has played numerous iconic downtown Toronto venues such as the Elmo Combo and The Horseshoe.
