Yves Cloutier is a Montreal-based composer whose music sits at the crossroads of folk, country, classical, and jazz. His universe, nourished by myths and folklore, combines rich sonorities with clarity of expression, offering works that are both personal and evocative. In fall 2024, he released Fleuve, his debut album led by an 18-string double-neck guitar, praised by critics and nominated at the 2026 Opus Awards as well as the 2026 Canadian Folk Music Awards (Solo Instrumentalist of the Year). Produced and arranged by Olaf Gundel, the album captivates with its dreamlike and enchanting atmosphere. After beginning his career as a solo artist, Yves has performed in duos, trios, and ensembles alongside Richard and Marie-Claire Séguin, Richard Toupin, and other notable artists. He has performed across Quebec, Canada, the United States, France, and more recently, Switzerland. A prolific composer, he has created numerous works for theater and visual media, including all the music for the cult TV series Watatatow. His artistic signature is defined by his use of the double-neck acoustic guitar: tuned in open tunings and enriched by inventive use of capos, it allows him to develop a unique 18-string language at the heart of each of his creations.
