Julia D’Angelo

About

Julia

Julia D’Angelo is a queer, multidisciplinary artist whose work fluidly weaves music, film, and dance into her creative projects. Rooted in jazz and folk traditions, her artistry is shaped both musically and socially by artists like Ani DiFranco, Fiona Apple, Sinéad O’Connor, and Nina Simone, artists whose fearless storytelling and activism continue to inform her approach to art and performance. As an actor, dancer, and musician, Julia brings an instinctive sense of intimacy and connection to every stage she occupies, whether performing solo in an acoustic setting or leading her full band. Her performances are marked by emotional precision, theatrical sensitivity, and a grounded physicality that reflects her multidisciplinary background. Her latest EP, Collector, fuses acoustic, jazz, and folk foundations with worldly, ambient, and experimental textures, showcasing an evolving and confident sonic identity. Recorded largely live-off-the-floor and shaped through exploratory production, the project bridges past and present through poetic lyricism, unconventional rhythmic phrasing, and smoke-tinged vocals. Julia has performed sold-out shows across Toronto and New York, appearing at venues such as The Rivoli, Mercury Lounge, and Bowery Electric, and at major festivals including NXNE and Departure. She recently completed a four-week residency at The Cameron House in Toronto.
