James is an Ottawa based singsongwriter who mixes folk, rock, country, roots, and blues to conjure up his own unique way of storytelling. Although his music often pulls from the hardships of life, whether it be relationships, addictions, inner demons, or depression, his gravely voice cuts a deep feeling of hope and determination resonating relatability and realism. Storytelling has always been at the forefront of James’ life. After a successful career in animation asa. storyboard artist, director, writer, series creator, and studio cofounder, James stepped away from the industry to pursue his lifelong passion of songwriting full time. Between 2020-2023, James recorded 38 songs with producer, Phillip Bova. Certain tracks included harmonicist Mickey Raphael (Nelson/Stapleton), guitarist/mandolinist Kevin Breit (Norah Jones), drummer Ed Toth (Doobie Bros.), and Juno nominated guitarist/pianist John Fraser Findlay. James has been releasing these singles monthly since August 2023. The first 10 compiled to become 2024’s album “Come On In”, followed by 2025’s “Self Deconstruction”, and the rest turning into his 2026 recored, “Pull Yourself Free”.
