Picture it: as the Black Death ravages Europe, one rat emerges on a quest to save all of ratkind. Shiprat does not (usually) sing sea shanties. Shiprat is a story, a party, and a band in a basement. Shiprat is cool. Shiprat is Darren and Hayden, and Tera too. Shiprat released their debut EP “Rat Race” on October 16, 2025, and followed it up with the Rat Race tour across Ontario and Québec. A grungy first chapter in their conceptual journey, this record brings to life the tale of the titular Shiprat, a lonesome seafaring rodent who sets off to find his lost friends.
