About

Gibbran

Singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, recording/performing artist and now abstract artist Gibbran Khan Rashid was born in the small Guyanese village of Skeldon.  Gibbran admits to a constant struggle in art, a spiritual war of good over evil: “I still try to resolve that in an optimistic way, with a meaning that’s deeper than that which can be explained in just a conversation.  As such, these are things which cannot be expressed straight up – they can only be said metaphorically.  By trying to follow the orders of the Most High (which at its core is love), my spiritual extension to the world is through my art, lyrics and music. Because of his work in multiple idioms, people often ask Gibbran if he’s primarily a musician or abstract artist, in much the same way that they ask him if his music is blues, R&B, folk or reggae.  But in truth. the paintings and the music, the blues, reggae and folk, are all the same thing, combined within him as the same expression.  As Gibbran succinctly explains it, “My inspiration comes from the Most High and life.  Music and art is how I make sense of it and communicate.”
