About

Gandhaar

Blending the pulse of electronic music with the depth of Indian classical improvisation, Toronto based artist Gandhaar Amin brings a bold new voice to global club culture. A flautist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist rooted in Hindustani music, Amin creates hypnotic, beat driven soundscapes that transform classical ragas into immersive electronic journeys. His trio pairs synth and modular textures with live Indian percussion and guitars, forming a boundary-crossing set that moves between bass heavy grooves, ambient ragas, and ecstatic improvisation. After a decade of performing for major festivals and world music stages across India and Canada, Amin is now reshaping his tradition through the lens of club music, where ancient microtonal melodies meet synth arpeggios, and improvisation becomes dance energy. With recent Toronto shows at Drom, The Aga Khan Museum, Transac, and Small World Music, Gandhaar’s trio invites audiences into a space where South Asian roots, analog electronics, and live performance fuse into something unmistakably contemporary.
