Dr. Jay, widely known as “De Soca Prince,” is a Toronto-based DJ, cultural curator, and global ambassador for Caribbean music with over 30 years in the industry. With roots in Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana, he has built a career dedicated to pushing soca music to the forefront of Toronto’s cultural landscape and expanding its reach internationally.
As the founder of Kingdom Of Soca, Dr. Jay has created some of the city’s most impactful Caribbean events, including Soca or Die, Doh Cry Ah Leavin’ and Return Fete, which consistently draw thousands and have become staples within the diaspora. He also played a key role in bringing Caribbean music to one of Canada’s largest stages at the Canadian National Exhibition, where Caribbean artists closed the final night in a historic moment for the culture. Through his events, radio presence on FLOW 987, and international performances, Dr. Jay continues to elevate Caribbean music while creating space for the culture to thrive in Toronto and beyond.
