We’re Near the Open, a three-piece folk-indie band made up of three brothers. Between the three of us, we play banjo, bass, and acoustic guitar, with two of us sharing lead vocals. We write and play original songs that lean into a folk-indie sound, focused on honest lyrics and simple arrangements that leave room for the story. We started writing music together during the pandemic, primarily as a way to stay connected and process what was happening around us. Those songs eventually evolved into live shows, and since 2022, we’ve been playing locally, slowly building a community around the music. We currently have three songs available on streaming platforms, and we’ve recently completed recording our first full-length album, which is scheduled for release in the new year. The new songs feel like a natural step forward for us, both musically and lyrically. At the heart of what we do is connection. We’re drawn to songs that feel familiar, that reflect real experiences, and that let people see a bit of their own story in the music. We’re excited to keep sharing new songs, meeting new listeners, and hearing how these stories land with people.
