Apacalda

About

APACALDA is the project of Montreal-based singer and composer Cassandra Angheluta, whose
emotionally immersive music blends goth-tinged indie pop, dark psychedelia, and electronic
textures into a distinctive alternative sound. Her debut full-length album, There’s A Shadow In
My Room and It Isn’t Mine (June 13, 2025), features collaborations with Mishka Stein (Patrick
Watson), JUNO Award–winning engineer Samuel Woywitka (Half Moon Run), Dayhills
(Skiifall), and Christophe Lamarche-L (Charlotte Cardin). The record received coverage from
The Line of Best Fit, Billboard Canada, RANGE Magazine and was featured on editorial
playlists including Fresh Finds, New Music Friday Canada, Café Montréalais, ALT QC, and
Montréal Chill. Visually, her work has gained international attention; Find Me in the Morning
and She’s Not Coming were recognized by the 1.4 Brilliant Filmmaking Awards (2023–2024),
with She’s Not Coming also screening at the SeeYouSound International Music Film Festival in
Turin, Italy (2025). The name APACALDA, meaning “warm water” in Romanian, symbolizes
Angheluta’s cultural roots and the sense of healing and refuge she finds through music. With a
growing reputation for striking honesty, atmosphere and sharp artistic direction, APACALDA is
fast becoming one of Montreal’s most compelling new voices.
