About

Alex

Baby’s First Pistol is a high-energy post-punk band from Toronto, rooted in the city’s underground indie/punk/alternative scene. Their sound, self-described as Fathercore, combines raw, explosive energy with intense live performances, diving into themes of absurdity, nihilism, and sharp societal commentary. Their music has been called “edgy” with “angry undertones,” drawing comparisons to post-punk greats like PIL and the early Sex Pistols, rooted in hardcore intensity. Critics have characterized their music as “the soundtrack to your nihilism,” with some likening their creative edge to “what would happen if David Lynch listened to too much Black Flag.” and “Like Nine Inch Nails, if they were good at sports”. Operation X-Ray Radio named their 2023 track Amoebic Dysentery a standout post-punk song of the year. Their debut EP hi. (July 2023) quickly gained traction, becoming a top-selling noise punk record and earning airplay across independent radio stations in Europe and North America. The single I Left My Charm in a Body Farm was featured on Simon Le Bon’s SiriusXM show WHOOSH!, expanding their global audience and cementing their reputation as rising stars in the punk and alternative community.
