Canadian indie folk singer-songwriter Alex Mason took the long road to Toronto, growing up in rural Ontario before touring the country, cowriting in Nashville, and finally landing in the city. His debut LP Ghost of the Great Lakes (2022) and its follow-up Breaking the Blue Sky (2025) form a poignant diptych processing the loss of both parents in his mid 20s. With writing credits alongside Dan Hosh, and Keaton Henson, and support slots for The Strumbellas, Daniel Romano, and Peter Murphy, Mason’s quietly powerful songs have landed on NPR, CBC, and The Bluegrass Situation, marking him as a vital new voice in alt-folk. He has performed at Tiny Lights Festival in BC as well as NXNE and CMW.
