Denizens of the ever diverse, ever evolving Southern Ontario Hardcore scene, Toronto’s Burnt Knives is upping the ante of negativity, one album at a time. A snarling release in 2023’s “Vol. 1: Life Is Beautiful” (mastered by Scott Middleton of Cancer Bats fame at his High Wattage Cottage studio) the first of a 2 part concept record, with the companion release arriving in 2026, Burnt Knives bludgeon the listener facetiously and ferociously, often with sly lyrics, mixed with razor sharp riffing. Taking elements from all eras of hardcore and punk, throwing in dashes of noise rock and bright flashes of black metal, Burnt Knives approach is fairly simple: give no fucks and take no shit.
